What is a Gyoseishoshi Lawyer?

Gyoseishoshi lawyers, also known as certified administrative procedure legal specialists, are entitled to represent clients in Japanese application proceedings and related hearings, give legal advice, and prepare agreements, articles of incorporation, and other legal documents. In addition to providing a range of immigration, inheritance, and family law services, gyoseishoshi lawyers also offer important services to those establishing corporate entities and applying for operating licences. Of the over 47,000 candidates who sat the gyoseishoshi lawyers’ exam in 2021, fewer than 6,000 were successful.
